No Posts for 3 Months!? Here’s Why…

Author: Adam Helweh

Can you believe it? I can’t. 3 quick months have flown by since my last post on this blog. I swear I have a good excuse or two. Actually, I’m not too keen on the fact that I let so much time lapse between posts, but I’m back to share with you what has been happening in in our corner of the world. Then you can be the judge.

So rather than bore you to death with a torturously long post that most folks will never read, I am going to attempt to quickly fill in the gap on what I and the Secret Sushi team have been up to. Here we go!

Social Media Bootcamp Presentation

Mid-August, I was one of the 5 featured speakers for a great event dubbed the “Lunch & Learn Social Media Bootcamp”. About 100 attendees from around the Silicon Valley absorbed all kinds of great tips and tricks from the presenters. My presentation focused on advanced ways to create and share content on Twitter.

“Preferred Provider” for the Luxury Marketing Council

A month after presenting on social media for the members of the Luxury Marketing Council of San Francisco, I was asked to become one of their handpicked “Preferred Providers” for social media consulting and new media design. I also contributed a post for their blog.

Twitter Talk at Cadence Systems

I spent a few hours on campus at Cadence Systems to discuss the viability of Twitter as a communications platform for the marketing and pr department managers.

The Birth of Over 50 Start ups at TechCrunch 50

I had the opportunity to attend the incredible TechCrunch 50 conference which introduces a bevy of brand spankin’ new web 2.0 and technology start ups. I consider myself an all around tech geek and with all of the newly launched services to check out, I was on cloud 9. I interviewed a number of interesting new companies and gained some great insight into the direction many of the online tools and social media applications are headed. Not surpassingly, mobile, hyper local & location based services were the talk of the town.

More Than Your Average Twitter Conference at 140 tc

I flew to Los Angeles and attended the much better than expected “140 tc Conference” which focuses completely on Twitter. I had higher expectations about simply seeing many of the Southern California connections I rarely get to meet in person, but the2 day event surpassed my expectations. I even got a photo with Levar Burton from Reading Rainbow, Star Trek, and Roots fame! I recommend you follow 140 tc event organizer Steve Broback on Twitter for updates on his next event. It was a blast!

Luxury Marketing Council Panel… Infinity and Beyond

On October 29th I was asked to attend a panel discussion for the members of the Luxury Marketing Council of San Francisco at the breathtaking Infinity residential property (see the video). I was joined on the panel by Facebook Regional Sales Director Brandon Pierce and Nicole Alvino, VP of Sales & Business Development at Halogen Network. The we had a lively discussion with the 80 or more folks who attended.

Discussing Social Media with Educators at DevLearn ‘09

From November 10-13th Adobe sponsored the DevLearn conference which attracted e-learning professionals and educators from around the country to the city of San Jose. I was on a panel with Dave Peck and Janet Fouts discussing ways that social media could enhance how educators teach and communicate.

On top of all the speaking and events I have been personally doing, there are some great things happening with the team here at Secret Sushi.

New Creative Director

Tosh Campanella Although he has been a part of the Secret Sushi team from the very beginning, Tosh Campanella has now officially taken on the role as Creative Director. Simply put, he will be interfacing with clients than ever before and directing the visual design and creative strategy on just about all our projects. He is a talented individual who has proven he understands how to extract what our clients want and work with our team to make it reality.

We Cooked Something Up for Chef Thomas Keller

We recently completed a project for world renown chef Thomas Keller. We translated the look and feel of Thomas Keller Restaurant Group’s previously flash based Bouchonbistro.com website into an equally interactive html version making it easier to maintain, use and ultimately manage with their previously developed content management system.

We Gave a Facelift to a Popular Explorer

Last but not least, top blogger, social media practitioner, and all around great guy Jason Falls asked us to give his very popular socialmediaexplorer.com blog a little spit shine. He provided a great deal of cool ideas and we ultimately worked closely with him to polish the site, make it more user friendly, and add some extra visual branding for good measure. Check out the difference between the old and new snapshot of the homepage below.

Wrappin’ it up

Well there you have it. Of course all of us here at Secret Sushi have been working on various other projects as well, but I wanted to share a few with you in an effort to fill in the gap of time since our last post. Now that I got this out of my system we can move on to bigger and better things like articles with more helpful and interesting information for those interested in web design, online marketing, and social media… like you.

  • I laughed reading through this... Wow, do I know how you feel! The last few months have been whirlwind for me, too!

    And yeah... Get Blogging, already!

    :-)
  • Welcome back. Now get blogging. (And thanks for letting me distract you a bit.)
  • Thanks a bunch Jason. Those simple words ring loud. It is all about priorities, no? This blog needs to be one.
