Secret Sushi Social: A Peak into the Process

Every 6 months or so, Secret Sushi hosts an event called the “Secret Sushi Social”. These events bring people together for a fun, shared experience with proceeds from the event going to a good cause, usually a nonprofit or charitable organization. Although not completely different from other networking events, the “Secret Sushi Social” traditionally includes a touch of social media related fun and a handful of engaging things happening during the event that keep the energy high throughout the evening.

As these events have been getting larger and with the latest event happening just around the corner, the need for better visual branding also grew. The branding would be different each event, based on the theme, but the logo would be consistent. Adam, the founder of Secret Sushi Creative, and I throughly discussed that the overall feeling of the branding needed to be friendly and business casual. Getting Started Using Twitter for Your Business or Organization

Author: Adam Helweh

I was recently invited to present a handful of workshops at the Socialbiz2010 Conference in Petaluma. One of the topics I covered was what I call my “Twitter Power Primer”. In this presentation I cover the bottom of the barrel basics on what Twitter is, how businesses are using it currently, how to set up your profile, and ultimately how to attract with your first “followers”.

Having used Twitter for a couple years now I often have to remind myself just how steep the learning curve feels to those who are new to the social network. With that in mind I believe I did a pretty a decent enough job distilling what folks new to Twitter need to know to get over that initial stumbling block.

Have suggestions as to how I could improve the presentation or specific Twitter questions then please let me know in the comments.

Whether you have an established web presence or are looking to launch your first site, there is one free tool from Google that everyone should be using. That wonderful tool is called Google Analytics.

Google Analytics provides very detailed insight into how people are interacting with your website. By just placing a small piece of code within each page of your site you will start receiving answers to questions like:

  • How many people visited my site during the last month?
  • What state (or country) do most of my visitors come from?
  • What search terms do my  visitors use to find my site?
  • Is my site getting any traffic from social networks? If so, which ones?

But answering these questions is just the tip of the iceberg. With some understanding of what your trying to accomplish with your web site there are a number of ways to dive deeper into these numbers and glean valuable information about just how effective your web presence might be. (more…)
